January Reflections: Introducing Healing Buildings and the Path to Healthier Spaces
Healing Buildings exists to transform the spaces we inhabit into sources of well-being, equity, and regeneration. The built environment is more than walls and roofs—it’s where we live, work, and grow. It has a profound impact on our health, happiness, wellbeing, and community.
This January, through a series of daily posts, I’ll explore why this work matters, who we are, and what we aim to achieve. This journey is an opportunity to connect, reflect, and inspire action toward a healthier future for the 3 ps people, place and the planet.
Why: The Urgency of Healing Spaces
Why does the built environment need healing? Because our spaces are often designed without considering the deep connections between people, nature, and community. The Built Environment can be isolating and harmful to our well-being, contributing to stress, inequality, and environmental degradation.
Healing Buildings is trying to challenges these by creating spaces that foster connection, inclusivity, and health. By prioritizing regenerative design, nature, education and equity, we’re redefining how spaces serve people and the planet.
Who: The Heart Behind Healing Buildings
Healing Buildings is powered by a diverse team of educators, designers, and visionaries committed to transformation. We believe in teaching, learning, and collaborating to create spaces that align with our values.
Our work spans designing regenerative buildings, consulting on equitable spaces, and sharing knowledge through workshops and writing. This month’s series is a way to connect with you—to share who we are and what makes us tick and invite you to be part of this journey.
What: A Vision for the Future
Healing Buildings is more than a design practice; it’s a philosophy for rethinking the built environment. Our vision is a world where spaces promote well-being, adapt to changing needs, and honour the planet.
Through this January series, I’ll explain what makes Healing Buildings unique and why our work goes beyond architecture to touch lives. Tomorrow (Day 03) we will talk about the three themes that underpin what we do and try to explain why we do them
